Bleach Lies

William Beasley

Wikpedia Encyclopedia defines a lie as “an intentionally false statement for the purpose of deception.” Note that two specifics are required, according to Wikpedia, for something to be a lie; it must be intentional and the purpose being to deceive. As I contemplated writing this article, my purpose was to expose a well-known bleach manufacturer (via an advertisement agency) of lying (intentional deception) by the use of small print to mislead, hide the truth and/or confuse the victim. I had not counted on there being thirty-three (33) types of lies listed in the Wikpedia article. Thus, at best, the small print lie would be a sub-heading or an example under one or more of the existing lie types. Oh yes, the small print is small print.

The bleach company in question claims (in easily readable print) to have a germ kill rate of 99.999 percent. In much smaller print, on the side or back of the plastic container holding the wipes for disinfecting, one can find the specific directions. “To Disinfect: Use to disinfect hard nonporous surfaces. Wipe surface to be disinfected. Use enough wipes for treated surface to remain visibly wet for 4 minutes. Let surface dry….” Thus, loving mothers who were seeking to protect their families (especially small children) were deceived into thinking they were doing a good job. They did not realize, because of small print t deception that the surface being disinfected must “remain visibly wet for 4 minutes”. Sorry, Mom, your journey through the house wiping door handles, telephone receivers, commode handles, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera was just busy work….accomplishing little or nothing.

There are lessons to be learned from this. Read the directions, especially the small print on all of the products you use….and especially those products which you have been using for years and years.

Also know that all liars shall have their part “in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8). Heaven will be inhabited by those “that are written in the Lamb’s book of life” (Revelation 21:27c). Entrance will be forbidden to “anything unclean, or he that maketh an abomination and a lie” (Revelation 21:27b). In fact, we are told that “Without (the gates of the heavenly city, wvb) are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie” (Revelation 22:15). When I read the above passage mentally I envision company executives under “loveth” and beneath “maketh” I see advertisement writers. Advertisements (Advertisers) do not openly tell the whole truth. We base our eternal hope on the words of “God, who cannot lie” (Titus 1:2)

Oh yes, are there some small print areas of your life??? Please remember that God reads the small print as easily as the Brand Name sized print.
